AI is Replacing Google Searches

AI Is Quietly Changing How Clients Find Lawyers
Do you remember when people opened yellow pages to find a business? That is how I found my first car accident lawyer at age 19. He had an ad on the back of the yellow pages. Then came the internet and webpages. Then came Google.
Now we have AI. Potential clients are no longer searching for you the way they used to.
Instead of typing in Google:
“Best lawyer near me”
People are increasingly going on ChatGPT:
• “Who is the best trial lawyer for trucking accidents?”
• “Who actually wins cases?”
• “Which lawyer should I trust?”
• “Who is aggressive in court?”
Is your law firm showing up here? Ask Chat the above questions and see for yourself. Another hint: Check Chat’s resources of the information found.
My husband told me, “I only use AI – I don’t even use Google anymore.” AI-generated answers are beginning to replace traditional search behavior.
That means:
• fewer clicks to websites
• fewer organic Google searches
• less visibility from traditional SEO alone
• more competition for online attention
At the same time, AI is also flooding the internet with content. Thousands of law firms can now produce:
• blog posts
• landing pages
• newsletters
• legal articles
…in minutes.
The result? Visibility is becoming harder. And standing out online is becoming more expensive. Here is the good part:
Relationships Are Becoming More Valuable Again
Our suggestion: Start prioritizing your networking. Trust is built through relationships.
That means:
• referral sources
• attorney friendships
• business relationships (yes, even vendors like us refer cases)
• legal organizations
• conferences
• networking events
• podcasts
• webinars
• speaking engagements
…all become exponentially more important. Because AI can generate content. But AI cannot replace genuine human relationships.
